Teplice is situated in the foothills of North Bohemia’s Krušné Mountains in a pleasant, tranquil setting of parks, fountains, trees and green areas. It is the oldest spa in Central Europe with a 2,000 year old tradition, proof of which are Celtic jewelry and Roman coins which were found in the main spring. The charm of this place overcame many a noble family and artist who nicknamed Teplice ‘Little Paris’ and the ‘Salon of Europe’. This unique spa was visited by Goethe and some of the most noteworthy composers such as Beethoven and Chopin.

The moderately mineralized local spring water is rich in CO₂, sulphur and sodium as well as having high fluorine content. It also has traces of radon. It is used to treat musculoskeletal problems, circulation complaints, post-injury conditions, muscle disorders, inborn orthopedic disorders, scoliosis and nervous disorders.

Tennis, squash, golf, mini golf, horse riding and an aqua centre are all available in Teplice. The surrounding countryside is also good for walking and cycling and in winter there are excellent conditions for downhill and crosscountry skiing. Promenade concerts take place throughout the spa season. The Osecký Monastery is one of the region’s architectural highlights.
